WellStar Health System CEO Reynold Jennings
The American Hospital Association (AHA), in partnership with the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA), awarded WellStar Health System CEO Reynold Jennings with the American Hospital Association Grassroots Champion Award. As a 2014 Grassroots Champion, Jennings was recognized for his exceptional leadership in generating grassroots and community activity in support of a hospital’s mission.
The American Hospital Association Grassroots Champion Award was created to recognize those hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on how major issues affect hospitals’ vital roles in the community; have done an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for hospitals; and are tireless advocates for hospitals and their patients.
“We depend upon strong voices like yours to help tell the story of hospitals as cornerstones of the communities they serve,” said Rich Umbdenstock, AHA president and CEO. “This award is a small token of our appreciation for your hard work and dedication to improving health and health care in America.”
“Reynold Jennings has served as an important and necessary voice for hospitals,” said GHA President Earl V. Rogers. “Not only has he helped convey important messages to our legislators, but he has also been an advocate for ensuring that they are accurately educated on health care topics so they are fully informed when making decisions that affect hospitals.”
The award is presented annually to one individual from each state with winners being chosen by the state association. The 2014 honorees were recognized at a special Breakfast of Grassroots Champions at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting. Jennings was one of 52 individuals honored this year.
