If you have a concern about your child’s health, call your WellStar pediatrician. Even if it’s after hours, an on-call physician will get back to you.
If your child is experiencing an emergency, WellStar Cobb and Kennestone Hospitals offer full-service Children’s Emergency Departments.
Both locations are located adjacent to the Main Emergency Department in each hospital. From there, your family will be directed to the Children’s ED.
The Children’s Emergency Department delivers comprehensive, child-focused care. It is uniquely equipped to handle all medical emergencies – from colds and flu to lacerations, broken bones, head injuries, sports injuries, bumps, bruises, rashes and more.
Children are not just small adults. And the emergencies they experience require a response designed especially for them. The Children’s Emergency Department is staffed by pediatric health care providers dedicated to the care of patients under age 18.
Whether the problem is a feverish newborn or an injury on the soccer field, our Children’s Emergency Department staff can help. Not only are they tops in patient care, they also understand that a visit to the Emergency Department is frightening for kids and stressful for Mom and Dad.

WellStar Cobb Hospital
Children’s Emergency Department technicians provide testing and therapeutic services that meet the specific medical and emotional needs of children. That includes all types of appropriate X-rays and CT scans. We also perform lab tests, respiratory therapy, and orthopedic treatment including splints, among other services. Even the selection and delivery of medications is carefully calculated according to the child’s size and weight.
Staff members understand that a visit to the Emergency Department is tough on children and their parents. They take special care to explain what’s happening at every step and to provide information about what to expect.
At WellStar, your child’s health is our highest priority.
